• Better coordination between the contributing countries by more closely promoting, planning, implementing, and publicizing Baltic research.

• Bridging the gap between science and users by ensuring that the research needs to be done keeping the sustainable development of the Baltic Sea region in mind.

• Producing and disseminating research outcomes for improved receptivity and utilization in policy and decision-making.

• Developing prudent and long-term multidisciplinary solutions involving sustainable use of the region.

• Educating and training new generations of young scientists and technicians to apply novel concepts and technologies for the above-mentioned purposes.
