ENVIRONMENTAL APPLICATIONS

Applied geophysics deal with the applications of physics to study the interior of the Earth from shallow depths to deeper ones. Techniques range from the propagation of electric currents in the Earth to the study of the ambient magnetic field. Our group focuses on inverse problems in geophysical imaging and data assimilation:

  • Environmental geophysics: hydro- and biogeophysics;
  • Geothermic: temperature field measurements;
  • Rock properties.

Our aim is to improve imaging, monitoring, and characterizing subsurface properties as well as forecasting abilities, in environmental applications such as groundwater resources and contaminated sites, or industrial ones, such as in landfills mining, biogas production or to design geothermal systems. They are performing fundamental Research as well as R&D through collaboration and technology transfer with industrial partners or services companies.

Welcome to EURELCO

EURELCO is an open, quadruple helix network that supports the required technological, legal, social, economic, environmental and organisational innovation with respect to the development and implementation of a Dynamic Landfill Management (DLM) framework. The DLM framework includes resource recovery-driven Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM) as one of its most advanced components, thereby supporting the transition to a resource efficient, circular, low-carbon economy. Are you a relevant actor working on DLM or ELFM?
