DEVELOPMENT OF NEW APPROACHES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF WASTE MANAGEMENT

Waste@Nova is a group composed by teachers and researchers from Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology/Nova University of Lisbon (FCT/UNL), which are also members of Portuguese research centers. The group has a strong experience in solid waste management, both urban and industrial waste, specific at sanitary landfill planning and management, energy recovery processes, biological waste treatment, waste collection planning and management and waste prevention. Its main areas of expertize are development of new approaches in the design and management of waste management systems with social psychology, new approaches to recover and treat waste and the assessment of social, economic and environmental impacts through the use of techniques such as social studies devoted to recycling behavior, cost-benefit analysis, ecotoxicological assessment and life cycle assessment, just to name a few.

Welcome to EURELCO

EURELCO is an open, quadruple helix network that supports the required technological, legal, social, economic, environmental and organisational innovation with respect to the development and implementation of a Dynamic Landfill Management (DLM) framework. The DLM framework includes resource recovery-driven Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM) as one of its most advanced components, thereby supporting the transition to a resource efficient, circular, low-carbon economy. Are you a relevant actor working on DLM or ELFM?
