GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This funded an Italian post-doc (from Universitá degli studi di Palermo) working for 1 year in UA, Portugal, working on “self-cleaning eco-composite mortars” made with photocatalysts and ferrites made from wastes, for green and sustainable construction materials. The aim is to make novel mortars, with abilities to combat both airborne pollution and electromagnetic interference (a new form of “electromagnetic pollution”) at high (microwave frequencies). The nanoparticles are made from a green nanosynthesis route, and the magnetic ferrite particles are made from industrial wastes.
FUNDING TYPE:
Italian MUIR (Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Universitá e della Ricerca) grant
PROJECT GOALS
To create novel eco-mortars with photocatalytic & EM absorbing properties using sustainable routes and wastes valorization.
